Our flagship asset is the Mako Gold Mine in eastern Senegal which commenced production in January 2018.
The Company has assembled an extensive exploration portfolio covering over 2,800km2 of the highly prospective Birimian terranes of Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea.
Toro Gold is backed by a sophisticated resource focused investor base who have worked with the experienced board and management team to oversee the development of the Mako Mine since its greenfields discovery in 2011 to first production in 2018.
With a proven track record of exploration and development success, Toro Gold is pursuing a growth strategy of developing a portfolio of producing mines through the identification and development of projects with strong geological potential to support commercial scale gold production
Following the initial exploration success in late 2011 the Company fast tracked the Mako Project through its development cycle and achieved first gold production in a little over 6 years since the first drill hole in August 2011.
Built ahead of schedule, under budget and safely, the Mako Gold Mine is an open pit operation exploiting a 1million ounce JORC compliant Reserve with an average grade of 2.25g/t and a modest Life of Mine (“LoM”) strip ratio of 5.1(w): 1.0(o). Mako is targeting an average annual production of 137 koz pa over the first six years of operations.
Exploration at Mako was curtailed in 2014 as the Company focussed available cash resources on developing the Mako Mine. With production now underway, exploration has recommenced with the target of extending the mine life beyond its current 8 years. Exploration is focused on both identified targets within the mine permit and on the potential to delineate regional satellite deposits that are within trucking distance of the mill.
While the Mako Mine is expected to produce strong cashflows for the group, the management recognise the importance of the “drill bit” in value creation. With a demonstrable track record of success in the discovery and development of gold projects, the company has assembled a portfolio of exploration projects that cover some 2,000km2 of prospective Birimian terrane in Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea.
Toro’s experienced management team has an active exploration programme across the current portfolio and in addition is constantly assessing new opportunities to enhance the project pipeline.
Toro Gold’s success is built on an experienced team with a strong track record of exploration, development and operation of gold assets in Africa which is complimented by significant experience at the corporate and board levels. The management team has overseen the development of Mako since its discovery as a greenfields project in 2010.
